2000s
I began the twenty first century by being commissioned on New Year's Eve (1999) and the first day of 2000 for a commission called 'Just Another Day'. In 2002, I photographed Ebbw Vale in the South Wales Valleys. The steel works was earmarked to close and I was allowed to visit and photograph the last few weeks before closure. Eventually after using gelatin film for more than thirty years, digital photography was progressing and in 2011, I decided to produce a large body of work using a digital camera. Since then, I suppose I've shot quite a lot of digital images, although in 2015, I used a Hasselblad medium format camera to produce a body of portraits. But it's not the camera, it's the photographer and the images he or she produces. Over the past twenty years since 2000, I've worked on numerous smaller assignments and also spent a few years producing work for magazines and advertising. I've always tried to push myself and experiment, learning new ways to approach a project and develop its content. Warning : all photographs are strictly copyright Roger Tiley. Illegal use without permission can be tracked by an ID number. An invoice will be issued. |
