Chapels 1990s
After photographing the architecture of the Welsh valley chapels in 1990, my intrigue grew,  and I felt that I should document the life inside these religious institutions. I’m not religious, though I did attend Sunday school once during the late 1960s. My mother came up with the idea one Sunday morning to send me to Sunday school. I refused, until she told me that there could be a trip to the seaside involved. So I agreed, only to find out that the trip was a few weeks before and the next one would be a year away. That Sunday morning, I remember being forced into the bath and putting a matching shirt and tie on. In those days, the fashion was to have a shirt and tie made from exactly the same material.
